The Phase Out

I have been SUPER absent from blogging- but I have good reasons. I am phasing out Tanisha Stephens Photography and I've been busy developing the brand and ironing out the details of my new company. I will specialize in family and children's portraiture. I'm excited about starting here in Atlanta. Today I will share my new logo (which) I actually shared on FaceBook last week. Hope you like it. Big things to come! Thanks Peter Chilton

My Climb Starts Today

Post Graduation Plans promise contentment along with excitement. Relaxed environment with potential for tremendous financial growth. - Thats my self-written fortune cookie for the day! My lucky numbers: Lots of 000,000,000,00's!

I have decided I will motivate myself to become a marketing guru like Gary Fong, or Mr. Cheetah Stand. I don't have a product but I can offer an experience. An experience like no other, complete with beautiful portraits as a token of our time together. I must now decide where I want to market myself and my photography.

A Very Long Break

Because my blog is a "photoblog" used to showcase my photographic accomplishments and activities- I have not been posting the last couple of weeks. Not that I haven't had any accomplishments or activities, I just haven't taken many photographs. In the preparation(retouching & printing) of my final portfolio and the review of my portfolio prior to graduation, I've spent very little time behind the camera. But I vow to pick my camera up and shoot something everyday for the last 7 days that I will have use of Hallmark's Canon 5D! I will graduate on June 25, ending one chapter of my photographic career and beginning a new one. I am very excited about what comes next. Stay tuned...

Play date with Addison

56 minutes, 251 shutter presses, 27 different uncomfortable positions on the floor = 1 portfolio quality environmental portrait! Thanks Addison

This morning I made a house call to visit Baby Addison, or Addi as her mother so affectionately calls her. I needed an environmental portrait for my final portfolio and I thought a baby in a nursery would be perfect. This is my second time photographing "Addi" and she was great the first time and even better this go round. She has an adorable nursery with lots of window light.

Clowning Around

Today the studio was like a circus-Literally! I had the pleasure of photographing "Flash" the clown. I wanted to try something a little different, so I went with a low key portrait for my colorful friend. Thanks Phil for making the drive. Continue making people smile.

The Great Escape

I traveled to Alabama by car 2 weekends ago(which I have yet to blog about) and had a fabulous time seeing friends and family and taking great photographs. But it wasn't much of a vacation. Between the drive and all the shooting when I got there, there was not a whole lot of time to sit and relax. Time to sit and look at the body of work I've created and really decide what I like. So I decided to see if I could have some of that time this weekend in Cape Cod. This is my first visit to the Cape and its going to be a very short visit. I am trying to get interior photographs for my portfolio. The resort I'm at is very nice. I am going to do a little exploring this afternoon. Great pics to come!

My High Key Reshoot

My FINAL portfolio is due in just over 2 weeks. I have images for all but 1 of my assignments, but I am still shooting everyday up until the very end! I am loving my work more and more everyday! I want to say thanks to Sheena for volunteering her time and wardrobe to help me pull this one off. You were great Sheena.

Briar & Addison

This morning the studio was bubbling with baby girls. 4 1/2 month old Addison & 5 month old Briar graced us with their presence. They were two of the sweetest babies I've ever worked with in the studio. Very easy going and at the stage where they aren't yet sitting up and will basically stay in one spot if placed on their bellies!

The W's

O.k.- I've taken a little break from blogging, but I'm returning strong. I traveled quite a bit over the last couple of weeks and I've settled back into my home and routine. Today I paid a visit to the home of the first family of the huge 4 generation family shoot I did a few weeks ago. I was amazed to learn that this very sweet couple has lived in the same house for 55 years! I enjoyed their company and hope that their children are pleased with the outcome of the photos. The one with the two of them waving from the porch was done especially for their daughter in California who says this is how her parents see the children and grandchildren off when they are leaving.

The Round House

We had our first of on location with Gregory Heisler and David Turner classes. We visited a very nice Round House, in Leyton. The place was spectacular and offered us all a great learning experience. A super big thanks to Sara for being a wonderful model & to Greg and David for all the wonderful knowledge!

Spring(y) Shoots

The weather here right now is beautiful, which makes for beautiful outdoor portraits. I had the opportunity to do down to Longmeadow and photograph relatives of the very first family I blogged about. The family in these shots attend the Bat-Mitzvah I shot and blogged about back in March. Most of the shots were taken on location outside of their beautiful home. They were very accommodating and super photogenic. Thanks for a great evening of shooting!

Busy in the commercial studio!!!!

So last night I decided I'd spend sometime in the commercial studio. At times its one of my favorite places, and at others- I'd rather be any other place but there! Last night was great! I got 3 shots that I really like -(now I just have to share them with my instructors). If anything-I have some good starts and can always go back in and make revisions!
